As part of our passion for the mobile web, we like to search for great examples of mobile web design. As well as letting us see the current standard of design, it gives us some great information to share with our readers. The easiest way to learn about great design is to see it and here’s another mobile site that does it right – Vimeo.

Vimeo is a video sharing community with an edge. The edge being that the site’s developers have used HTML5 to create universal, embeddable video. This means that the site can automatically detect which device is being used to access the site and will play the videos in a compatible format. Very handy for those who can’t use Flash on their mobiles!

Vimeo’s strategy is excellent but it wouldn’t work if the site wasn’t properly mobile compatible. When the Vimeo site is accessed from a mobile device, it automatically resizes to fit the screen perfectly and allows efficient use regardless of platform. The site runs smoothly on both the web and mobiles, enabling seamless use and viewing. It’s definitely an example of good mobile web design!
